Artist's Statement

Born: 16th January 1979 (United Kingdom).

"I was first introduced to the world of photography when I worked as an assistant with A. P. R. Photography Ltd. The experiences I had there, were a great influence on my decision to embark on a career in photography.

I began my studies with a 2yr ‘B. T. E. C. National Diploma’ in photography (Mid Cheshire College), which I successfully completed in 1997.

After completing my studies at Mid Cheshire College, I chose to defer my placement at University for a year. I used this time to take on full-time employment, which provided me with the opportunity to save enough money to fund my photographic studies.

As planned, a year later I began my studies for a B. A. Honours degree in ‘Editorial & Advertising Photography’ at the Kent Institute of Art & Design. In 2001 I graduated with a 1st Class Hon’s.

At this point, financial commitments dictated that I needed to establish a steady income. I had already begun working part time in a restaurant, so I continued with this job whilst seeking employment within the photographic industry.

Since January 2002 I have been working in a photographic agency that specialises in celebrity portraiture. My position within the company has developed considerably. I began as a library assistant and have taken on many more responsibilities. My main role is in the field of Digital Production & Design. Although I strive to find the time and creative energy needed to keep up my photography, the demands of full time employment have taken their toll, and I find that the frequency of my photographic projects has substantially diminished. Ultimately I hope I will be afforded the opportunity to focus on my photography and forge a successful career."
